About the Museum

The non-profit International Museum of World War II, located at 344 Main Street in South Kingstown, RI, opened officially in the fall of 2018 and began offering school field trips in January of 2019. Since opening its doors for schools from around Southern New England, more than 4,000 students have visited the museum. The World War II Foundation pays for all costs associated with the field trips, including bus rentals.

For the public, the cost is $10 for adults, with kids 12 and under free. Each visitor will leave with a free WWII Foundation DVD film. All veterans receive free admission.

To date, the World War II Foundation has produced 44 documentary films on World War II, which rank among the top 5 most-requested programs nationally on PBS stations. Some of the narrators of WWII Foundation films, which range in length from 60 to 90 minutes, include Bill Belichick, Luke Bryan, Tom Brokaw, Darius Rucker, Dan Aykroyd, Tom Selleck, Gary Sinise, Matthew Broderick, Jon Seda, Liev Schreiber, David McCallum, Paul Giamatti, John Malkovich, Keith Morrison, Tim McCarver, Jane Lynch, Damian Lewis, Jim Nantz, Kyle Chandler, and others. Seven additional films are in post-production.

The World War II Foundation’s International Museum of World War II features thousands of artifacts from WWII, as well as a theatre that seats 50 and a library with over 700 World War II books. The World War II Foundation also has a Podcast. The Podcast is called From the Front to the Films. The nonprofit education center also uses handheld audio tour guides to provide visitors with a more informative and productive experience. The guides are loaded with 100 facts about World War II. Visit in Person-Our Hours

The Theatre, Virtual Reality Center, and International Museum of World War II are open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 am until 5 pm. We are located 20 minutes from Newport and 30 minutes from Providence. We offer both guided and self-guided tours.

Center and Museum Cost

There is no cost for school groups to visit. The Foundation will pay the fee of school bus rental for public schools. Each visitor to the Global Education Center and The International Museum of World War II will leave with a free World War II Foundation documentary film of their choice ($20 value). The regular admission cost is $10 for adults. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. There is never any cost for veterans to tour the center.

To date, thousands of visitors, students and educators have toured The International Museum of World War II, either in person or virtually-from all over the world.

“At the end of January, my school went on a field trip to the World War Two foundation in Wakefield, Rhode Island. After going to the museum, I learned many facts and overall stories I had never heard before. I had always loved learning about the war, it had always fascinated me, but going to the foundation actually showed me all of the uniforms, letters home, scrapbooks, machinery and propaganda I have seen in textbooks and heard about in the classroom. Seeing the artifacts really helped me to comprehend and put myself in the shoes of not just the soldiers but everyone else that was impacted by the war. Not to mention the veterans and employees that really helped bring the history to life. Finally, to top it all off, my class got to take a DVD home, for free! A free documentary of our choice which comes directly from the founder, Tim Gray. Overall, I can definitely see myself visiting again because going to the foundation was as if going into a time capsule into the past!”
