THE-WAAL-RIVER-CROSSING

The Waal River Crossing: 1944

Narrated by Paul Giamatti.

This documentary focuses on the famed Waal River crossing by the American 82nd Airborne Division in September of 1944 as part of Operation Market Garden. The crossing, in flimsy canvas boats and under German observation, was featured in the classic war film, A Bridge Too Far, but this time you’ll hear from the real paratroopers who were there and executed this suicide mission in broad daylight. The crossing of the Waal is considered one of WWII’s most heroic acts.
